Shipping to Belarus – Customs announcement

Due to new Government legislation, UPS brokerage in Belarus is not currently able to undertake Customs clearance of import packages (all non-document shipments).Customs clearance is only able to be undertaken by an alternative Broker acting for the consignee.

UPS is still able to undertake customs procedures with exports.

Sending Parcels to China? Services affected due to Chinese New Year

China will be observing a 7-day public holiday to celebrate the Chinese New Year from January 22, 2012 (Sunday) to January 28, 2012 (Saturday) inclusive.

UPS will be closed from January 22 to January 26, 2012. Normal pickup service and delivery on request will be available in the following major metropolitan cities from January 27 to January 28, 2012:

January 27: Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Ningbo, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Donguan & Xiamen.

January 28: Beijing, Qingdao, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Ningbo, Wuxi, Kunshan, Jiaxing, Nanjing, Chendu, Wenzhou, Changzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan & Xiamen.

Normal business will resume on January 29, 2012 (Sunday).

Sending Parcels to Nigeria? Mail labour unions announce national strike

A National Strike for an undetermined period has been announced by the main labour unions in Nigeria, commencing on Monday 9 January 2012.

Import volume for Nigeria will be held on arrival with the appropriate exception B1-Strike Exception. The release process will start as soon as UPS is able to recommence the movement of packages.

Sending a gift to Cyprus? Shipments affected due to 12-hour strike

A 12 hour strike has been advised by Cyprus Air Traffic Controllers from 0700-1900 Today, Thursday 15 December 2011, and will affect all inbound and outbound flights to and from Larnaca International Airport.

Affected shipments will have exception code-RY-entered for all packages that will not make service (inbound and outbound).

Sending Parcels to Faroe Islands? Delays in shipments over festive period

Sending Parcels to Qatar? Customs imposing a new rule affecting non-documents shipments

The clearance of all non-document shipments consigned to companies in Qatar is temporarily suspended due to Qatar Customs imposing a new rule, requiring every non-document shipment to have an original commercial invoice on the shipper company letterhead and an original certificate of origin. The clearance of document shipments and U.S Military shipments are not directly affected. However delays may occur should customs prevent selective clearance to be done. Failing to provide these documents will result in a customs fine of 500 Qatar riyals (137 USD) for each missing document.
