Shipping to Belarus – Customs announcement

Due to new Government legislation, UPS brokerage in Belarus is not currently able to undertake Customs clearance of import packages (all non-document shipments).Customs clearance is only able to be undertaken by an alternative Broker acting for the consignee.

UPS is still able to undertake customs procedures with exports.

Sending Parcels to Qatar? Customs imposing a new rule affecting non-documents shipments

The clearance of all non-document shipments consigned to companies in Qatar is temporarily suspended due to Qatar Customs imposing a new rule, requiring every non-document shipment to have an original commercial invoice on the shipper company letterhead and an original certificate of origin. The clearance of document shipments and U.S Military shipments are not directly affected. However delays may occur should customs prevent selective clearance to be done. Failing to provide these documents will result in a customs fine of 500 Qatar riyals (137 USD) for each missing document.

Sending a gift to the United Kingdom? Affected delivery services due to strike

A 1-day strike by Public Sector workers will take place on Wednesday 30 November 2011.

Deliveries and pickups, particularly to this sector are likely to be affected, and in addition many flights to and from the United Kingdom (particularly London Heathrow Airport) are likely to be either cancelled or delayed.

Greek Customs strike commencing 14th October affecting shipments to and from Greece

A strike by Greek Customs will take place starting Friday 14 October 2011, until Sunday 23 October 2011 inclusive. This will affect all non-document T1 imports and exports to/from Greece. Shipments from/to European Union countries are not affected. All affected shipments will be held until the strike is over.

Customs are scheduled to resume operations on Monday 24 October 2011.It is anticipated that with the volume which will have accumulated within this period, that normal operational service should occur by Wednesday 26 October 2011.
